"Lil Kim - The Naked Truth" Review

Kimberly Jones has been on the scene for a little while now. I first saw her with Biggie's Junior Mafia crew on a track called "Player's Anthem". She definitely held her own against Biggie and Lil Cease and I was looking forawrd to hearing her on more songs. On "Get Money" she also showed that she was going to be a force to be reckoned with in the hip hop game. "Get Money" was a male/female rebuttal on the issues that are involved in male/female courtships or relationships. Once Junior Mafia's CD ran its course, I started hearing Lil Kim solo tracks like "Queen B....", "Big Momma Thing" and "No Time", so I knew that a solo CD was coming soon. Lil Kim dropped "Hardcore" and she demonstrated that she was definitely going to represent for the ladies in any and every way possible. She wasn't afraid to express those views explicitly either. Many fans of rap music had never heard a female rapper express themselves in that way and with the infamous picture in the CD cover, ladies and gentlemen were very interested in Lil Kim. Then as what many artists do, Lil Kim released a very tight song on the Money Talks soundtrack enitled "Money Talks", which was produced by Timbaland and featured Junior Mafia. Lil Kim was on the right track. Then her mentor, friend, and lover The Notorious BIG was shot and killed and that really affected her. This effect carried on to her next CD, "The Notorious KIM". While she did have nice tracks on the CD like "Lil Drummer Boy" featuring Cee Lo & Redman, "S*** My D***", "Aunt Dot", and the heartfelt tribute to Biggie featuring Mary J Blige, "Hold On", Lil Kim wasn't able to match the overall success of "Hardcore". Lil Kim rebounded with "La Bella Mafia" with the Timbaland produced single, "The Jump Off", "Get In Touch With Us" w/Styles P from The LOX, and the infamous "Magic Stick" w/50 Cent. 50 Cent wouldn't do a video for the song though and that affected sales numbers on the CD. This is one reason why Lil Kim & 50 Cent are still beefin' 'til this day. "The Naked Truth" is clearly Lil Kim's best CD since "Hardcore". She is able to catch all of the street elements of "Hardcore", while still pleasing her commercial fan base. "Spell Check" has Lil Kim spelling her way through a nice track with words for Junior Mafia, 50 Cent and many others. This track gets things off to a good start. "Lighters Up" is the 1st single from this CD that is produced by her ex- boyfriend Scott Storch. This was definitely the best choice for her 1st single. "Shut Up B****" would have worked as well, but the track has more of a street element to it, which was why I think Lil Kim just used this track at the beginning of the "Lighters Up" video. Seeing what Lil Kim has been through because of her trial, "Shut Up B****" is the prefect song to combat all that negative energy that she had towards everything that was going on. This is still my favorite track on the CD so far. "Whoa" is a nice club track that will give people energy when they hear the DJ spin the record at a club. Lil Kim has better club bangers but "Whoa" is still sufficient enough. "Slippin'" is produced by Denaun Porter of D12 fame. He hooks the chorus up and Lil Kim does a good job on warning us on the ways of the world. "All Good" is another song for the clubs and samples Biggie's voice for the song's title. No matter what Lil Kim goes through The Notorious BIG we always be one of her main motivators in her life. He will always be on her mind. She refernces some of his rhymes in the song as well. Any Lil Kim fan will enjoy "I Know You See Me". This track is vintage Lil Kim. After hearing this track, I undterstand why The Source would even think about giving her 5 mics. The chorus is off the hook and this demonstrates why Lil Kim is the best female rapper in the game today. (No disrespect to Missy Elliott, Rah Digga, Remy Ma, Jean Grae and when she gets herself back together, Foxy Brown). "I Know You See Me" should definitely be the next single. No song captures Lil Kim's street element better than "Quiet". Lil Kim gets alot of her chest on this track and has words for Lil Cease, Foxy Brown and others during this track. The Game hooks up the chorus and Lil Kim even goes Marshall Mathers on us during some of the bars of the song. "Durty" starts off with a Millie Jackson sample and Lil Kim mixes reggae with hip hop on this nice track. She even tries to sing a tad bit as well. "We Don't Give A ...." features Twista and Bun B from UGK on a nice down south bounce track. If you haven't purchased Bun B's new solo CD, "Trill", you need to do so. Any fans of UGK will enjoy his solo CD. "We Don't Give A ****" is a nice change of pace from all of the street and club tracks on the CD. "Last Day" allows Lil Kim to get more frustrations off her chest before she has to do her jail term of a year and a day. When Lil Kim is able to reflect on past personal moments through rhyme she is at her best. This is one of the best tracks on the CD. "The Naked Truth" doesn't have too many things wrong with it. "Gimme That" is a bland attempt to recreate "Magic Stick". Lil Kim would have been better off leaving this track off of the CD. "Kitty Box" is an interesting track but like Sunshine Anderson would say we've "Heard It All Before". While guest appeances by Snoop and TI are nice for the CD, the songs that they are featured on do little to try to make those songs better than the best songs on the CD. Overall, Lil Kim has done a real nice job with "The Naked Truth". If you are a Lil Kim fan then you should have this CD in your collection. However, this is not a 5 mic CD. A 5 mic CD is "Illmatic" from Nas, "The Low End Thoery" by A Tribe Called Quest and "The Chronic" from Dr. Dre. However, when the president of The Source is dating Lil Kim's manager then you can understand why she would be given 5 mics. Anyway, "The Naked Truth" is Lil Kim's best CD since "Hardcore". Hold your head up Kim, we'll be hear waiting to celebrate with you once your time is over.

"G.R.O.D.T OST" Review

50 Cent's latest musical release is the "Get Rich Or Die Tryin'" (2005) Soundtrack. 50 (AKA Curtis Jackson) enlisted the whole G-Unit Family for this one with Lloyd Banks, Spider Loc, Young Buck, M.O.P., Olivia, Tony Yayo, Mase and Mobb Deep all making appearances. R & B hook singer Nate Dogg also makes an appearance. I feel like 50 Cent & Co dug deep when creating this release, almost like he rewound the clock some years back to when he was an unknown delivering raw music. The album's opener "Hustler's Ambition" is blazing hot, 50 rhymes with hunger, while lacing the track with his own impressive chorus, the end result is a premium cut. The follow up track "What If" is a more laidback, 50 lays questions down while talking about other rappers and singers, a minor snub is sent AZs way. Lloyd Banks and Spider Loc then team up with 50 Cent for the grimy "Things Change". Backed by a pounding beat 50 then collabs with Young Buck and Banks on "You Already Know". 50 teams up with M.O.P. for the outstanding, "When Death Becomes You" one of those tracks that you blast in the whip. Next two cuts are average and have 50 collabing with Mobb Deep and Olivia, and then Young Buck delivers a standout on solo with "Don't Need No Help" dropping his opinion of the law. I am not a big Yayo fan, but he surprised me delivering an excellent track with "Fake Love", feeling the lyrics and beat to this cut. 50 provides another solid track with "Window Shopper", some people may have heard an unofficial version of this one which has 50 calling out Ja Rule, Nas, Jadakiss and Fat Joe. Lloyd Banks provides another thugged out track with "Born Alone, Die Alone" while Havoc and Prodigy collab with 50 again for "You a Shooter". The album's biggest collaboration has 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, Prodigy, Spider Loc and Mase working together for "I Don't Know Officer". 50 then puts himself in the perspective of people (enemies, relatives, his son) he knows or knew delivering their opinions on him with "Talk About Me". "When It Rains It Pours" is laced with a sad sounding beat, and has 50 talking to a lil homie. The upbeat "Best Friend" follows, 50 sings to a lady on a smooth track that reminds me of past ballads of his. The album closes off with another banger as 50 and Young Buck tag team "I'll Whip Ya Head Boy". My favourite tracks on this one are "Hustler's Ambition" and "When Death Becomes You". Overall I think the "Get Rich or Die Tryin'" Soundtrack will accompany the movie well; I recommend this release to fans of 50 Cent and G-Unit.

Another Beef is Over?

If Jay-Z and Nas can put aside their differences, why can't Jadakiss and 50 Cent?

In hip-hop, anything can happen. On Monday in New York, 50 told MTV Radio that there's really no bad blood between Jada and him. "Jadakiss, I don't resent him Photos, audio and video from this story Source: MTV.com50 Cent Aims At Game, Nas In "Piggy Bank" Video to the point where I'd absolutely like to see him suffer," 50 said. Last week on New York radio station Hot 97, 50 said that he'd even like to help Jada make his next record. "I didn't say I would sign him," he said to MTV Radio about the once seemingly far-fetched rumors of Kiss coming to G-Unit Records. "I said I didn't dislike him."While 50 didn't clarify exactly what his intentions for Jada were, he did allude to the fact that he was open to doing business with the man he's dissed on records, in a music video and on the cover of his current mixtape. "There are other options and opportunities that may open up for [Jada] in the future," 50 said. "If he's smart enough to explore them, there is a possibility. I'm trying to build my company as fast as possible. There's unlimited possibilities. "I only wrote two lines about Jadakiss [on 'Piggy Bank']," 50 continued (see "50 Mocks Fat Joe, Jadakiss, Game, Nas In 'Piggy Bank' Video"). "I said, 'I'll do your little ass like Jay-Z did Mobb Deep,' and that was put you on the Summer Jam screen. That wasn't a disrespectful-enough insult to stop Mobb Deep from doing business with me, and they made the best-performing record of their career with 'Outta Control.' It went to the top 10 in all formats." Although Jada could not be reached for comment, his LOX partner Sheek Louch said, "50 will never put out a Kiss record. Ever."

Jadakiss' Ruff Ryders label had no comment.

"Get Rich or Die Tryin" - 1st Review

The Movie will hits theatres Nov. 9th.

...Shout out to Interscope Records for inviting us to a private screening fo the movie. All in all it was a well rounded flick with some nice action scenes. The Soundtrackwill definitely be worth the buy! Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson is the charismatic driving force behind the movie. It's a hard-hitting drama directed by six-time Oscar® nominee Jim Sheridan about an orphaned street kid who makes his mark in the drug game but finally dares to leave the violence behind and become the rapper he was meant to be. Marcus Jackson has always known he was going to be a rapper, but when his mother is murdered, he turns to hustlin drugs. As his world crashes out of control, he begins to apply the same manic intensity to his writing as he does to dealing; he has to write down his words to stay sane. For years, he endures this living hell until a tragedythat nearly kills him gets Marcus to change his life. About the Soundtrack: “I created the music for the soundtrack while I was actually filming the movie. I had a studio trailer with me and would record every day between takes” Comments 50 Cent. “I keep telling you, I’m the hardest working man alive.” 50 Cent executive produced the album. Sha Money XL is co-executive producer with Dr. Dre and Hi-Tek providing further production. Mase, Nate Dogg and newly signed G Unit members Mobb Deep and M.O.P are also featured on the album. Soundtrack to be released Nov 8th...

    Beef is Over?

Jay-Z And Nas Put Beef To Sleep In Onstage Show Of Unity.

Beef in HipHop golden world is sumthin very often, but Hov/Esco beef was the 1st serious one after that tremendous BIG/2Pac one.

I personally think beef is sumthin very commercial and used by major record companies to increase records selling and blow the hype around this marvelous business, but anyway Jay & Nas 2gether should sound very interesting...

<....Jay and Nas performed "Dead Presidents" together for the first time (Nas' voice is sampled on the chorus) and anyone who did not get goosebumps or chills at that moment had to be either dead or not in their right mind. Jay stepped aside to let Nas have his own set, and Esco went back in his stash for "New York State of Mind" and "It Ain't Hard to Tell"....>
